A couple of years back I took a UCB Extension class called Gizmology. Is this lot aware of that lot? Fun class; learned robotics via Basic Stamp. Still haven't finished my class project due to frequent mutations, heh.

I knew I'd be busy this semester, with the SFAI gig and all the Crucible classes, but this has been ridiculous.

This is a good one too. The co-founder of the Gizmologist Dinner has landed in a new studio space, and he will be having a studio warming party on Saturday!!! Come and see and have fun, etc.

The deets:

1455 3rd Street in Berkeley. There really is no actual 3rd street there, it's the fire access road by the tracks. So what you do is get yourself to Jones Street, and drive west to the end. Park on Jones, and look for the signs at the very end of Jones.

4PM to 10PM (or later if the cops don't get wise)

I don't know if folks should bring anything, but Nemo might chime in and tell us...otherwise just bring something to share - that's always the nice thing to do ;)

August dinner

The August Gizmologist Dinner was the best attended ever - even though we had it way out of town. I would guess that by Saturday there about 35,000 people at the dinner. That evening we burned a large gizmologist effigy, and everyone seemed to have a good time with that. A few gizmos were spotted scattered around the place.

Only problem was the dust. I think even Brennan's is less dusty than that last place. Who picked it anyway???

Flaming Lotus Grrrls/Seemen fundraiser Saturday night at Cellspace

I can't go to it, so I need everyone else to go and give a little money, and take pix, and have fun for me :)

FLG and Seemen have been invited to Robodock in Amsterdam, and this is their fundraiser, as well as a potentially awesome art show in its own right. I'll have 3 or 4 pieces there, and they are raffling off one of my penny pieces. Kal said he'd make something to raffle too.

I'll be in Baltimore, so I'll have pix to share in a couple weeks too.

Hi, I am new here. I see many people I recognize here. I was wondering if anybody here has experience in video capture systems. I am working on a project that involves image processing and sound generation and would like to know if anyone can recommend a relatively cheap system with low latency. Consumer-grade computer cameras won't do, as the system is interactive and must do a fair amount of signal processing pretty fast.

'k... i'm thnking about making dinner for y'all. because i don't really bring anything to the gizmo table besides my desire for more wearable art.*

so i'm happy to make a simple dinner. could be elaborate if folks wanted to bring some thangs. could involve BBQ if someone wanted to take responsibility for tending it.

the only catch is that my house is pretty teeny - more than 8 or 10 would be cramped. maybe not, though.

mon 5/30 (is that labor day? if so, maybe not)

sun 6/5

location: northwest oakland: near san pablo & alcatraz

*(i have ideas of things i want to make, but no idea of where to begin....)

Any suggestions for date, time, place, possible field trip for May? I know Thursdays don't work for everyone and we talked about switching the days up. How about Wednesday...the first or second Wednesday in May?

What the hell is this tribe?

I just spun this out of another tribe of mine. I wanted more people to be able to join and get involved, so here it is. We have had one gizmologist dinner so far. The next one is April 7th, 6PM, at Brennan's in Berkeley. Everyone is encouraged to bring some kind of gizmo to show off if you have one. Also, if Brennan's menu isn't on the top of your list, bring some snacky stuff to share. I think as long as some of us are eating their food and drinking their booze they won't mind.
